Fun Chocolate Chip Oatmeal and Walnut Cookies

Tuesday was a rare day for us SE Texans, it stormed all day. Thunder, lightening, and lots of rain. It was awesome, the perfect kind of day for napping and baking. After making granola bars, I enlisted the help of my nephew to make these tasty little morsels.

My older sister Candace saw a recipe on an episode of Sesame Street where they made cookies with apple sauce. So she took it and changed it, she dropped the raisins, added salt, added chocolate chips, and doubled the oatmeal. And then I changed it some more. This is our end product! I give you another fun, family created recipe!

Ingredients:

1/2 cup of sugar
1/2 cup of brown sugar
3/4 cup of apple sauce
1 egg
1/2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking soda
1 1/2 cup flour
2 cups of oatmeal
1/2 cup of white chocolate chips
1/2 cup of semi sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup of walnut
Sprinkles

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a bowl, combine the first four ingredients and set aside.

In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt and baking soda. Then add it to the first bowl.

Then add the oatmeal, chocolate chips, and walnuts and mix everything together.

On two cookie sheets sprayed with non stick spray, spoon small amounts of the mix onto the tray. Add sprinkles to each cookie and place sheets in the oven on separate racks.

Cook for 6 minutes, then switch the trays in the oven and cook for another 6 minutes or until golden.

I also posted this recipe at these link up parties!

Enjoy!
